Pool heaters are a great piece of equipment that extend your swimming season and make it a more enjoyable experience. Like all pool equipment, your pool heater will require special care and proper installation. Do Not Cover Your Pool Heater. This may sound like bad advice but, once you cover up the pool heater it creates a warm escape for rodents to build nests for the winter. This could lead to potential damage to the heater. Mice like to eat wires, and their nests can get into the burner tray. If a mouse nest gets into the burner tray and is . . . [More]

If you want to make the most of your outdoor swimming pool, a pool heater is a must. They’re a worthwhile investment for making the most use of your pool while the season allows it, whether you like to make your pool as warm as bath water or just get it up to a comfortable temp for nighttime dips in late spring. I have been dealing with dust allergies in a house I moved into recently and was recommended to get a Lennox Healthy Climate 16x25x5 filter for my HVAC system by a relative. He isn't a technician though, so I was hoping to get input here. My system is 1.5 years old and I don't want to damage it with air restriction. But I also don't want to be miserable with dust allergies 24/7. I've seen mixed reviews on if the Lennox Healthy Climate does restrict or if it has enough pleats that it doesn't effect airflow. Could anyone weigh in on this so I can . . . [More]

why do new homes being built have mini splits not vented ac

A lot of newly built homes in my area appear to have mini splits (you can see them on the side of the house). Also, a friend of mine is a very successful real estate agent that sells fancy homes in a fancy market (500k+ homes) & all the newly built homes have mini splits, no vents. I am surprised by this. My friend just says they are easier to have than vents — sure i get that. But if someone is having a 800k house built, the homeowners probably arent looking to cut corners to save $5k. They want something that is most reliable & efficient. . . . [More]

Quick synopsis: I just purchased a house built in the 1830's it's been through several owners and just before we bought it had A/C added but not a new thermostat wired in. The old thermostat had no cooling option, I'm having an issue wiring the new thermostat. There are three wires, a red wire I have going to “R” a white wire going to “W” and a Blue wire going to “Y. The fuse in the air handler(?) is not blown and power is turned on at the inside breaker, outside breaker and switch on the side of the furnace. Question from user IDONTL . . . [More]
